Working with Prof Tim Denham in School of Archeology,

This work is part of a large project which aims to be able to identify the types of grain found in pottery shards recovered from archeological sites. 

 

Project 1: Develop a machine learning algorithm that can discern the difference between wild and domestic varieties of individual grains found in pottery shards recovered from archeological sites.

Project 2: Develop a method of locating grain incisions in these pottery shards using 3D imaging techniques.

Project 3: Develop a decision making tool that can choose the best speciment in a shard to be investigated

Project 4: Using the 3D location data developed in previous project build a robot that can drill with precision to remove the plant incision.
