Forming-Composite materials-Numerical simulations-Thermomechanical analysis of structures and systems

Research Desription

Manufacturing, forming, failure and wrinkling behaviour of advanced composite materials

Forming and failure studies on composite and fibre metal laminates using experiments and FEA

Development and implementation of user defined material and failure subroutines in FEA

Material characterisation at room and high temperatures

Research Outline

My research aims at understanding forming and failure behaviour of woven composites under rapid manufacturing techniques. I develope material models to predict forming behaviours of composite materials through extensive characterisation experiments. I develope novel criteria to predict failure and wrinkling onset in woven thermoplastic composite materials. I incorporate material models and failure/wrinkling criteria into finite element simulations to predict failure onset under different deformation modes.
